Outsting Cases

(一) Shiprepair and Conversion (Conversion Projects List)
1. Fish processing vessel, "Slaviansk" - Russia

From January of 1990 to December of 1992, M/V Slaviansk, a fish processing vessel of Russia, was repaired and converted at the company. The major jobs are: 1) installing one more deck; 2) newly equipping a great deal of the fish processing devices; 3) installing a new workshop for fish processing. After conversion, the vessel comes with functions of both fishing and processing, the products such as canned fish and fish powder etc. can be produced directly.

2. VLCC, "Oak Main" - Hongkong

in 1993, VLCC "Oak Main" from Hongkong came to the company for repairing. Her DWT is 265,000MT, which is the largest vessel ever repaired in China. The repair work scope is huge and there are over 2300tons steel renewal.

3. Semi-submersion heavy life vessel, "Mighty Servant 3" - The Netherland

"Mighty Servant 3", a semi-submersion heavy life vessel from The Netherland, was repaired in the company with very large work scope, very high technical requirements and very short repair duration. The company had successfully completed the tank coating of 32,000 sq.m. within total 25days only, and the quality is excellent. As the new development project of the company, its success in repairing attracted a lot of shipowners to carry out the similar repairs in our company including M/V "Seabird".

4. Bulk carrier lengthening, M/V "Dmitriy Pozharskiy" - Russia

This is a lengthening project, one more cargo hold of 20 meters length and 23 meters width is installed in the mid-ship. The vessel has 7 holds instead of 6 after lengthening, and total steel works is around 1000 tons. After conversion, the DWT of the vessel is increased from 18,000MT to 22,000MT.

5. Bulk carrier into cement carrier, M/V "Fujisan Maru"

It is the first vessel in China who is converted to self-unloading cement carrier from bulk carrier. She is 147 meters in length, 23 meters in beam and 17000MT in DWT. In addition to adding hopper bottom inside existing holds, the large cement conveying equipments and large air compressors was installed, the project is extremely difficult.

6. Panama- typed bulk carrier into self-unloading coal carrier, M/V "Pearl of Dubai"

Previous vessel was a 72,000DWT bulk carrier from UAE. As per the owner's requirement, she would be converted to a self-unloading coal carrier equipped with 7 sets of four-wire grabs, 7 sets of deck hoppers, 1 set of longitudinal belt conveyer, 1set of transversal belt conveyer, 1 set of boom conveyer, hydraulic power pack and 2 generators etc. Through everyone's common efforts, this project was successfully completed on time.

7. Restoring Project of Container, M/V Norasia Bellatrix (ex "Hanjin Pennsylvania")

This is a container ship repaired by Chengxi Shipyard for Zodiac Maritime, she sustained a very serious damage due to the explosion and fire shortly after the voyage. The difficulty in repairing is unique in the world shiprepair history, almost 4000 tons of steel work; overhauling and renewal of total 129 sets of equipment at different sizes; lay out of nearly 200 kilo meters cables; replacement of communication and navigation systems, auto control systems as well as monitoring and alarm systems; renewal of 8 layers of accommodation. All of these jobs are successfully completed by Chengxi Shipyard within 230 days which is 10 days shorter than the contract time.

8. Single bottom into double bottom, M/T "Corcovado"

It was the first tanker converted from single hull to double skin. This is a very difficult project: total around 1,600 tons steel renewal and over 38,000 sq.m. tanks coating. Besides, it is also difficult for the conversion of piping and pump room, deformation control of double bottom works, piping relocation as a whole, the planarity problems in big area cutting in floated condition, etc. Therefore, the company organized the resources aboratively and performed the repairs ingeniously, finally, through the common efforts of the people involving in this project, this conversion was successfully completed.

9. Ro-Ro carriers conversion project

Five Ro-Ro carriers conversion projects including M.V. Tourcoing & M.V. Tapiola, each should be removed of the deck structure and container fittings, installed of another 6 layers of car decks above main deck (total around 3,000 tons steel in 285 blocks), installed of the deck cables (total around 55km long) and alarm detectors (total 496pcs) and blasted (around 70,000sqm) / painted (around 200,000sqm) of the car decks. All of the fire alarm device, piping, ventilation system etc. relocated and reinstalled. Through the good cooperation among shiprepair, newbuilding and steel construction from the company, many difficulties are overcome and the whole conversion is successfully completed within 160 days only.

10. Jumboising project of container, M/V "Star Istind"

The major work of this project is: fabricating a new section of 13.5 meter long, cutting the vessel into two bodies in way of 4# / 5# bulkhead, then inserting the new body in between and welding with the existing two bodies. Besides, modification of 8 oil tanks in engine room, and withdrawing of tail shaft and aligning etc. The company organized all of the resources delicately and improved working process scientifically, prefabricated blocks and assembled ashore, and lifted them into dock and connected with the existing bodies. Mr. Moslaf, owner of this ship, credited Chengxi shipyard by "Chengxi shipyard is our best choice."

(二) Newbuilding

1. 53,000DWT double skin bulk carrier

This is a green & environmental vessel in accordance with the modern requirement of newbuilding. She is a 53,000DWT double skin bulk carrier with overall length of 190meter, beam of 32.26meter, and depth of 17.5 meter, and the light weight of 10,800 ton. The designed speed is 14 knot, the voyage endurance is 18,000 nautical mile and the maximum power of main engine is 9,480kw. The vessel was built by 146 blocks, and the total steel consumption is around 11000MT including the hatch covers.

Recently, the company has signed 36 newbuilding contracts, which can suffice the production capacity until 2011. Through the common efforts, the company completed the assembling of the blocks on slipway within 40 days only, and the outfitting on berth within 83 days, which made the company into the advanced level at home.

2. 25,000DWT Chemical Tanker

The vessel was a tanker of high quality and state-of-the-art technology built for Italy owner. Total alarm is over 3,000 points, this vessel has the advantage of unmanned control in engine room, one person management in bridge, and CCP. All equipments on bridge are controlled automatically, and only one person monitor in bridge while sailing of vessel.

3. 7,500DWT Self-Unloading Cement Carrier Assembly

The vessel is intended for automatically loading/unloading cement, pertaining to engineering vessel with combination of economy and practicality. The vessel was made of two sections, one self-unloading barge and one tug. The two sections can be connected automatically, with overall length of 113meter, beam of 9.4meter, deadweight of 7,600MT and designed speed of 12 knot in condition of combination.
